In addition to the selection of Dr. Johnny Wong as the TPO’s next Executive Director at the September meeting, the TPO Board passed TIP Amendments. TIP Roll Forward Amendments include:

  • Resurfacing of Kennedy Blvd from S Woodlynne Ave to Brevard Ave
  • I-4 Eastbound and Westbound Weigh Station Truck Parking

A notable highlight is the Kennedy Blvd resurfacing project came in at a remarkable 16% below its initial estimated cost, resulting in savings of over two million dollars! Also beneficial, the I-4 projects will result in paved shoulders that provide much needed parking space and increased operational efficiency for the truck weigh stations.

Another TIP amendment approved funds for construction of much needed sidewalk gaps at Water Works Park. District 7 is using Carbon Reduction grant funds to complete the gaps and provide park users a continuous path for pedestrians to experience the beautiful park amenities with a greater assurance of safety.

Another major accomplishment was the Board accepting edits and agreeing to forward the draft Memorandum of Understanding on creation of a merged Tampa Bay MPO to our regional partners. The Tampa Bay Transportation Management Area Leadership Group next meets on September 22 to discuss.
