The State of the System Report analyzes trends related to the performance of the transportation network, including infrastructure condition, resiliency, crashes, transit assets, travel reliability, and multimodalism.
The last major update to the State of the System Report was done in the end of 2021. A concise version has been produced in the end 2022 to reflect some of the areas where there have been notable changes. The 2022 update provides a big picture view of transportation performance to help the planners and decision makers with project prioritization and help with the performance target-setting process.
What are the benefits of performance measurement?
Just ask any parent on the day report cards come out. Seeing how well an expectation is met can be a great source of satisfaction, or if the results fall short, can point to where improvements are needed. Federal rules now require performance measures as a check and balance that proposed transportation plans and projects are helping to reach goals established by the community.
The Hillsborough TPO has documented the performance of the transportation system for a number of challenging goals, even going beyond those identified nationally. The performance areas include:
- State of Good Repair & Resilience
- Vision Zero
- Smart Cities
- Real choices When Not Driving
- Major Projects
The plan is to continue to evaluate and adjust, track trends, and make progress toward a safer, more efficient, transportation system.
