Food and health are contributing factors to someone’s quality of life, so the Planning Commission is partnering with Homegrown Hillsborough through the UF/IFAS Extension Office of Hillsborough County and the University of South Florida Master of Urban and Regional Planning to build an online, interactive map of the food system in Hillsborough County, FL. Homegrown Hillsborough is an initiative to educate and engage residents in the food system—the production, distribution, marketing, access, and consumption of food. The aim is to develop an active network to support and grow a strong local food system.

This Food System Map provides a snapshot of what our food system looks like in a given moment. It can help people locate existing resources and services and will help identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities to improve our local food system. We will continue to update the map based on feedback from users and the Homegrown Hillsborough network. Click on the map below to explore the local food system in Hillsborough County.
