World Day of Remembrance – Vision Zero Hillsborough

November 17, 2023 @ 5:30 pm 6:30 pm

On November 17th, the Hillsborough Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) will be hosting a Vision Zero event to honor the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. During this event, the community will come together to remember those who have lost their lives to or been impacted by roadway crashes. A strong call to action will be made to urge decision-makers to address issues contributing to the roadway safety crisis. This event will also highlight well-known safety solutions, including redesigning hazardous roads, reducing speeds, enhancing vehicle design, and investing in safety rather than speed.

Join neighbors from across the globe and staff from Plan Hillsborough, City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, FDOT, USF, and HART to honor 2023 traffic crash victims in remembrance with their families.

Ways you can participate:
– Carry the Vision Zero banner
– Hold a Vision Zero sign
– Hold a photo of your loved one
– Simply walk in support

Getting there:
Arrive at Emanuel P. Johnson Recreation Center and walk 0.6 miles to Progress Boulevard and back. The names of 2023 victims will be read aloud at the intersection of 78th Street and Progress Boulevard. Bicycle and vehicle parking is available at the Recreation Center (carpooling is encouraged). The event is also accessible by HART Route 8.
