How do you want to get around Hillsborough County in 2050? Whether walking, biking, driving, or taking a bus, train, or ferry, we must look at how our system is growing and create a plan that works for all of us.

A core document of the TPO, the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), looks out at 25 years to forecast future needs of the transportation system and prioritize projects to address them. Using extensive public engagement, modeling and data analytics, the Plan directs federal and state dollars toward projects you value.

Access 2050 Transportation Survey

Join us in this transformative journey by sharing your thoughts and ideas through our interactive Access 2050 survey, designed to gather valuable insights. This brief survey allows you to actively participate in shaping the transportation roadmap for Hillsborough County.

Plus, your participation makes you eligible to win exciting prizes, including Bad Bunny concert tickets, Kane Brown concert tickets, a MOSI Family 4-pack, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2024 tickets, or a $100 Publix Gift Card. Completion of the survey is not required to be entered to win.

Research for the 2050 LRTP has already begun! The LRTP will be built over the next year through several separate technical studies which will be brought together into a single priority list. Weighing the relative priority of the various needs, and allocating limited dollars appropriately, will be the subject of a widely distributed public opinion survey in 2024, and will be debated by the TPO Board and its advisory committees. The Hillsborough County Planning Commission and Transportation Planning Organization both require population, employment and other demographic and scenario-based projection data to the year 2050 to facilitate their state and federally mandated work efforts. In addition to supporting the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Model development, the data also supports the missions of other agencies including the Hillsborough County School Board, HART, Fire/EMS, Parks and Recreation, and Utilities. The Board will hear and adopt the final report at a special public hearing on October 16th, 2024. To find out what’s behind the Plan, please see the materials from our ongoing projects below:

The Hillsborough County Planning Commission is responsible for generating the 2050 Population and Employment Projections for the Hillsborough County including the cities and unincorporated county. Please see the Technical Memorandum and the presentation in the link below.
