Silvia Vargas | FAICP | LEED AP

Silvia Vargas is a Principal Planner with Calvin, Giordano & Associates, with nearly 30 years of public and private sector planning experience in the U.S. and abroad. Her enduring commitment to social equity and inclusion has empowered disenfranchised populations and inspired individuals to engage in the civic process. She has lead in the creation of dozens of comprehensive and strategic plans; visioning, neighborhood, district, downtown and corridor plans; and, parks and recreation and institutional campus master plans. Passionate about advancing the planning profession, Silvia has been a member of ULI’s Women’s Leadership Initiative and has served as an expert to The American Architectural Foundation’s Sustainable Cities Academy.

Jennifer Codo-Saliisbury | MPA | AICP

Jennifer Codo-Salisbury is the Executive Director of the Central Florida Regional Planning Council. She leads a dynamic and multi-functional planning team which administers programs including Resiliency, Brownfields, Hazard Mitigation, Geographical Information Systems, the Avon Park Air Force Range Sentinel Landscape, military installation compatibility, local land use planning, and state and federal grant administration and coordination. Jennifer has more than 25 years of experience in urban planning, has a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of South Florida and is a certified planner. Prior to joining the Central Florida Regional Planning Council, Jennifer managed several large-scale planning projects in both the public and private sectors.

Dennis Smith | AICP

Dennis Smith is Planner-in-Residence in Florida State University’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Director of the Barnebey Planning and Development Lab. He has over 30 years of public and private sector experience in community development, risk mitigation, and transportation planning. Furthering his desire to improve social equity, graduate students under his direction recently completed broadband feasibility studies and community engagement tools for two rural Florida counties. He is currently leading an interdisciplinary team in partnership with community members to build economic resilience in historic African American “North Star” legacy communities in rural North Florida.
