Urban Service Area expansion study

In November 2023, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) directed staff to prepare a report identifying possible geographic areas that the BOCC may consider for future expansion of the existing Urban Service Area (USA) boundary and the existing public and private funding options for providing infrastructure and services.

Planning Commission and County staff presented the findings of the report at the March 6 BOCC Meeting. The BOCC has requested staff to:

1. Move forward with expanding the Urban Service Area for the Wimauma Village Residential-2 (WVR-2) and the Residential Planned-2 (RP-2) areas.
2. Additional studies on the Interstate 4 and Little Manatee South areas, including infrastructure needs and possible funding, should be added.
