August 2022 – Following Tampa City Council’s unanimous adoption of the Vision at their July 28 meeting, the updates to the Sections of the Tampa Comprehensive Plan are set to kick off at the end of August. More than 700 people from across Tampa shared over 1,500 comments about what they felt were the most important areas for the plan to address. The community’s input laid the foundation for the revised Vision and will continue to inform the update of the Comprehensive Plan. There will be multiple opportunities for the public to comment on each Section as they come forward in a phased approach.
The first Section to be updated is One Water: Comprehensive Planning for Water Resources. This Section updates, synthesizes, and combines the language within the Comprehensive Plan related to water. A Virtual Public Meeting to kick off public engagement for the Section will be held on Wednesday, August 31 at 5:30 pm, with a second meeting slated for the end of September. Register for the virtual meeting and learn more about the One Water Section on the project page.
Outreach on the Future Land Use Assessment will be the next to come forward. The Planning Commission procured a consultant, PSG, to evaluate and provide recommendations on changes to the categories and policy provisions in the Future Land Use Section. The consultant will meet with stakeholders and the community in September to discuss options and ideas. Register for the Virtual Public Meeting on Wednesday, September 21 at 6 pm, and learn more on the project page.
