On October 16, 2024, the Hillsborough Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) Board will consider a new Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Amendment.
The proposed TIP Amendment consists of the following projects:
US 301 at Symmes Road Intersection Improvements
An additional $3.8 million will be allocated for construction to improve the US 301 and Symmes Road intersection. The project will reconstruct the intersection with rigid pavement to provide a longer-lasting surface. It also includes installing a new traffic signal at Rhodine Road and Ramble Creek Drive, minor drainage upgrades, ADA-compliant features, and general safety enhancements.
Hillsborough County Bridge Planning Study
Funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bridge Investment Program, this study will assess 11 water-crossing bridges in Hillsborough County to determine whether repairs or replacements are necessary. The total project cost is $2,090,000.
US 301 Resurfacing from Manatee County Line to South of SR 674
This resurfacing project will receive an additional $1.5 million for railroad and utility work and $2.4 million for construction. The scope includes repaving US 301 between the Manatee County line and SR 674 (Sun City Center Blvd) and adding safety features like buffer lanes and turn lanes.
These projects are expected to enhance road safety, improve accessibility, and create more resilient and reliable transportation infrastructure.
