The TPO’s planning process gets a check-up every year, like an annual physical, but for transportation planning. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 teams up with TPO staff and the TPO Board to review how we’re doing. It all wraps up with a Joint TPO/FDOT Certification statement that sums up notable achievements, recommendations, and any corrective actions.
(Quick heads-up: this is not the big federal review that happens every four years. We shared updates about that before the January meeting. That federal report is still expected later this year.)
So, how did we do? Glad you asked:
14 notable achievements! FDOT gave us a shoutout for a bunch of things, including Safe Access to Parks, the Access 2050 Needs Assessments, the Outreach Survey and Final Document, work on Freight Supply Chain Resilience, and getting the word out with TIP Public Awareness. (Want to see the whole list? It’s in the TPO, TAC, and CAC packets, or just email us at [email protected]!)
3 recommended actions. FDOT suggested we:
- Keep them in the loop when key staff roles change
- Keep sharing challenges and questions directly with the FDOT Liaison
- Keep working with local governments so recommendations can actually happen
Zero corrective actions! That’s right. No fixes required.
In May, the TPO Board approved (or supported) the certification and authorized the Chair to sign the Joint Certification Statement. After that, FDOT District 7’s Secretary Hall signed the statement, marking the TPO annual Joint Certification complete for another year.
Thanks to everyone who played a part in this year’s certification. We’re looking forward to keeping things moving!
