TIP Amendments: HART Maintenance Facility and Gibsonton Drive Widening Study

The Hillsborough Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) will consider a series of Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) amendments to fund the construction of a new HART facility and a study that will look at widening Gibsonton Dr.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) request, if approved, would add the amendments to the 2021/22-2025/26 TIP to document the addition of state and/or federal funds.

The amendments for the HART facility would reallocate $4 million in funding currently designated to replace old buses. The TPO Board voted to support the reallocation in November 2021. The funding would be used in the reconstruction of HART’s primary maintenance facility on 21st Ave. in East Tampa.

The amendment for the Gibsonton Dr. study requests an allocation of $201,000 to assess the benefits of widening the road from Fern Hill Dr., just east of I-75, to US 301

The TPO will consider the amendments on March 9, 2022, at 10 a.m. The public can comment on the amendments in advance of the TPO Board Meeting through March 8, 2022, via email to tpo@plancom.org; mail to Hillsborough TPO, Attn: Cheryl Wilkening, 601 E. Kennedy Boulevard, 18th Floor, Tampa, FL 33602; voicemail beginning one week in advance of the meeting to 813-272-5940 (press 9); or social media by posting on the TPO Facebook page at facebook.com/HillsboroughMPO
