The new Valrico Community Plan was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on November 13, 2025. The new plan is effective as of January 1, 2026, and can be found on the Hillsborough County Comprehensive Plan page. 

This community plan represents the 23rd community plan adopted by the Board of County Commissioners. The Community Plan is in the Livable Communities Element of the Unincorporated Hillsborough County Comprehensive Plan.  

This milestone reflects a shared vision to develop and preserve Valrico’s suburban character while maintaining its rural identity with future growth. Guided by extensive community input, the plan is composed of 1 vision, 4 goals and 17 strategies that reflect Valrico’s priorities: infrastructure, development, mobility and environment & recreation.   

Strategies within the Community Plan include providing infrastructure to support existing and proposed development, encouraging commercial clustering, development design and densities that are compatible with Valrico’s desired rural and suburban character, environmental protection, quality recreational opportunities, stormwater management and improvements to connectivity, safety, and mobility for all users.
