Tampa City Council Redistricting (2026)

Per Part A-Charter, Article II-Legislative, Section 2.01 and Part B-Related Laws, Article VIII-Elections, Section 8.03 of the City of Tampa’s charter, the four single-member Council Districts (i.e., Council Districts 4, 5, 6, and 7) shall be redrawn every four years. The newly redrawn council districts shall have roughly equal population. Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission staff generates alternatives and solicit public input. After two public hearings, the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission Board approves one of the proposed alternatives.

Typically, the redistricting process includes four in-person and two virtual open houses and two public hearings held by the Planning Commission. Final approval of new district boundaries must be completed by April 1, 2026. The next municipal election in Tampa is scheduled for Tuesday, March 2, 2027.
