We’re thrilled to share that the Sunshine Line has been named the 2024 Urban Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) of the Year by the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged (CTD). This prestigious award recognizes their dedication to providing reliable transportation and improving lives across our community.
Driving Success Through Dedication
Facing an industry-wide driver shortage, the Sunshine Line turned a 54% driver vacancy rate into a remarkable 95% driver capacity. Their commitment to recruiting and retaining drivers has been a game-changer.
More Trips, On Time
With more drivers on board, the Sunshine Line increased their door-to-door trips by 23%, delivering 530,014 trips in total. Even with increased demand, they maintained an impressive 93.4% on-time performance.
Delivering Value and Service
By improving efficiency, they reduced their paratransit cost per trip by 6%. Customer satisfaction also soared, with a 5% drop in complaints and a 37% rise in compliments.
Innovative Partnerships
The Sunshine Line has embraced innovation by partnering with neighboring counties to expand regional service. Collaborations with Uber, Lyft, Wheelchair Transport, and local taxi services have helped serve qualified residents in Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas counties.
Making a Difference Every Day
The Sunshine Line’s mission is clear: remove transportation barriers so people can live the lives they deserve. Their hard work and dedication continue to make a positive impact, one trip at a time.
Congratulations to the entire Sunshine Line team on this well-deserved recognition!
