Staff Spotlight: Wanda West

Wanda West

Wanda West | Community Relations Coordinator | 4 years

Wanda began her county government career at the West Tampa Neighborhood Service Center. During her 18-year journey with Hillsborough County, she has worked with Directors and Division Directors of the health and social services departments including Social Services, Child Care Licensing, Health Care Services, the Ryan White Program, Children’s Services, Head Start, Aging Services, Sunshine Line, and Veterans Affairs. She took a brief break from county government to work for Florida Orthopaedic Institute.

Wanda found her way back to government service working for Plan Hillsborough where she has been for four years. Beginning as an Administrative Specialist with the MPO, she recently moved into a new position as a Community Relations Coordinator for the Public Engagement Division. She still works closely with the MPO team helping with their social media and various outreach events. Her most enjoyable events have been for the Garden Steps and Vision Zero initiatives, where she is able to get out of the office and interact with the public. Currently, she is tasked with drafting the Measures of Effectiveness Report, a two-year evaluation measuring the MPO’s public participation and outreach.

While she was born and raised in St. Petersburg, she also lived in Nashville, TN for five years. In her spare time, she enjoys going to Fort Desoto and other beaches and parks, spending time with her family, and baking. She was even a volunteer for Girl Scouts of West Central Florida where she helped her daughter maintain top seller status in her troop for three years. Her favorite day of the week is Sunday!
