Plant City Canal Trail Study
Overview
The Canal Connector Trail was identified as one of three (3) catalyst projects in the Plant City Walk-Bike Plan prepared by the Hillsborough TPO in 2018. The city currently has a very limited amount of active transportation or recreational trail systems that would fit the description of regional context. Introducing an iconic trail has been known to activate community space and place, provide connectivity for residents to community-based programs, and support the use of alternative transportation modes for exercise, shopping and commuting to work. The planned Canal Connector Trail will extend the on-street system and connect residential communities, commercial areas, and other points of interest for pedestrians and cyclists.
