At the October 8 TPO Board meeting, two proposed amendments to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) will highlight important investments in the Hillsborough Transit Authority’s (HART) transit system:

HART’s Section 5307

This amendment proposes adding funding to HART’s Section 5307 capital assistance project. These funds would support:

  • Repairing HVAC units at 21st Avenue and Streetcar facilities
  • Purchasing new buses and bus shelters
  • Upgrading IT equipment

The total amount programmed for fiscal year 2026 is $132 million, though the average amount HART receives annually is closer to $25 million.

HART’s Fixed Guideway Section 5309/5337

This amendment proposes adding funding to HART’s Fixed Guideway project to ensure streetcar stations are kept in good working condition. The total programmed for fiscal year 2026 is $1.3 million.

Together, these projects will improve safety and accessibility, rider comfort, and reliability across HART’s services.
