Measuring our effectiveness at public engagement

measuring with a rulerMay 2020 – Updated at least once every two years, our Measures of Effectiveness report summarizes the agency’s four main goals: outreach and education, customer service, proactive planning, and agency performance measures. During the report’s cycle from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2019, over 4,000 people attended board and committee meetings. Also during this period, we received over 5,000 responses in our It’s TIME Hillsborough survey which aided in establishing priorities for the 2045 Long Range Transportation Plan. During 2020 and 2021, we plan to increase citizen engagement in historically underrepresented areas and create short videos to inform the public of activities taking place in our agency and let them know who we are.

Recommendations from the report are incorporated with our Public Participation Plan (PPP). The PPP describes the MPO’s strategies and techniques to inform and engage the public in transportation planning issues with the purpose of maximizing participation and effectiveness.

In its commitment to meaningful public engagement, the MPO holds a 45-day public comment period to allow citizens to review the plan and provide feedback. The public hearing for approval of the Plan will take place on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. We look forward to receiving valuable feedback from residents of our community.
