Big things are happening with Hillsborough County transit! HART and the Hillsborough TPO have joined forces on a major public outreach campaign to support the Comprehensive Operations Analysis (COA), a fancy way of saying they’re taking a deep dive into how our transit system works and how it can work even better.
The outreach kicked off on September 15 and ran through October 15, with a month of pop-in sessions, virtual town halls (in English and Spanish), and in-person events at HART transit and transfer centers. The goal? To spread the word about proposed service changes and hear directly from riders like you.
Here’s a quick look at what’s being proposed:
- Route 9 (15th/30th St.): More buses! Weekday service could bump up to every 30 minutes.
- Route 34 (Hillsborough Ave.): Schedule tweaks to help buses stay on time.
- Route 7 (West Tampa): The last eastbound trip at 11:25 p.m. would be removed daily.
- Route 37 (Brandon/Netpark): The loop to HCC Brandon Campus would go away, keeping the route on Falkenberg Road.
- Route 46 (Brandon Blvd.): The final westbound trip at 10:45 p.m. would be removed daily.
- Route 24LX & 25LX (FishHawk/Bloomingdale to South Tampa): These would be discontinued, but Route 360LX from Brandon’s J.C. Handly Park-n-Ride to Downtown Tampa and MacDill AFB would step in as an alternative.
- HARTFlex South County: This service would be discontinued.
So, what’s next? The proposed changes are headed to the HART Board for final review in early 2026, with implementation expected in June 2026.
Thanks to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and helped shape the future of transit in our community. Stay tuned. There are more updates on the way!
