November 2021 – In case you missed it, the 2021 Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit (GCSSS) is now streaming on demand! The GCSSS is a great opportunity to learn more about safety efforts in the Tampa Bay region. Join industry experts and legislators as they explore lessons learned from elsewhere and the ways we can continue to work together to make our community safer for everyone.
Highlights during the three-day event included an opening by keynote speaker Deputy Assistant Secretary for Safety Policy Robin Hutcheson of the U.S. Department of Transportation and presentations by Pedal Power Promoters, Hillsborough County’s Community & Infrastructure Planning department, Sam Schwartz Engineering, Dover, Kohl & Partners, Fehr & Peers, the City of Tampa, and Hillsborough TPO staff. The GCSSS also honored Lena Young, founder of the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association, as this year’s Vision Zero Hero.
After the GCSSS, the learning continued on Friday November 5 with the Bike Walk Tampa Bay Summit, an annual event showcasing efforts to transform Tampa Bay into the best place in the nation to bike and walk.
