November 2022 – The Planning Commission has kicked off a comprehensive vision study for the Fowler Avenue Corridor and will be hosting an Open House for the public on Tuesday, December 13 from 5-7 pm. The public can drop by during this time to the blackboXXcelerator theater in the University Mall to learn more about the study and share their vision for the future of Fowler. The theater is located on the 2nd floor of the mall directly north of the food court and across from the LOOK Cinema. A virtual open house on Wednesday, December 14 from 11:30 am-12:30 pm will allow the public another opportunity to view the study presentation and participate in sharing their vision for the corridor. Fowler Avenue serves as a main gateway to many of Tampa and Hillsborough County’s important employment, education and research, medical, and residential areas. The corridor connects organizations like the University of South Florida, Moffit Cancer Center, and the Florida Hospital with areas ripe for redevelopment opportunity like University Square Mall. The opportunity to create a cohesive vision for this area serves to benefit everyone who lives, works, studies, and plays within the corridor.
