Mark your calendars and get ready to join the fun! Walk Bike Tampa, their partners, and sponsors are thrilled to host Tampa’s second annual World Car Free Day on Sunday, September 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This global celebration is all about reducing car use to make our streets cleaner, less congested, and more vibrant for everyone.
This year, Tampa’s Car Free Day will span three exciting activity hubs: Midtown, Encore, and Hillsborough Community College Ybor Plaza. Plus, we’re bringing the fun to three local “neighborhood Meet-UP” spots: The Heights in Seminole Heights, Live Oaks in East Tampa, and Hyde Park in South Tampa. No matter where you are in the city, there’s a spot nearby to join in! Expect a day packed with activities and entertainment. There will be everything from local vendors and live entertainment to pickleball, chalk art, and tons of activities for the little ones. It’s a great chance to enjoy Tampa in a whole new way.
And that’s not all! In conjunction with World Car Free Day, the TPO’s Community Air Monitoring Network will be hosting its first summit at the Plan Hillsborough booth in the Encore area. Make sure to come by and see all the things Plan Hillsborough is cooking up this fall.
Walk Bike Tampa is still looking for volunteers. For more details and updates on the event, check out the website: World Car Free Day Tampa.
